Crownprincess Victoria celebrates her 40th birthday in Sweden

I was waiting to talk about this! I had actually forgotten about Sweden’s Princess Sofia and her second pregnancy. Sofia married Prince Carl Philip in the summer of 2015, and quickly became pregnant in the first months of their marriage. She gave birth to son Prince Alexander in April 2016. She became pregnant for the second time less than a year later, and gave birth to a second son just a few days ago, on August 31. A Virgo baby! A Virgo boy. Carl Philip told reporters that it was a quick labor and delivery and that he cut the umbilical cord.

Sofia and Carl Philip have named their second son… Prince Gabriel Carl Walther. The name Gabriel isn’t a common one in the Swedish royal family – in fact, this is the first royal baby in the House of Bernadotte to be named Gabriel. The name “Carl” is popular in Sweden and in the royal family, and Walther is the name of Queen Silvia’s father (Carl Philip’s grandfather). I wonder if the name Gabriel has some significance in Sofia’s family?

This baby will also carry a title: Prince Gabriel will be known as Duke of Dalarna. Dalarna is, according to People Mag, in the province of Värmland. Prince Carl Philip is already the Duke of Värmland. Nay, he is Duke of All Umlauts!! Also: Carl Philip’s sister Madeleine is knocked up AGAIN with her third child. Royal babies are in the air!

Here’s a photo of Carl Philip and Sofia when she was just hours postpartum. They do seem like they’re crazy in-love with each other. And they’re a fertile bunch, those Swedes.
